This week we have finished our whole school journey to Dublin Zoo from Limerick. All classes really enjoyed taking part in this activity over the past few weeks and keeping an eye on our progress on the notice board.

The Active School Flag Committee met early last week to decide how we should celebrate and mark our achievement. We decided that all classes had to complete one last kilometre but they must do it with a difference. The classes came up with different ideas and they took photos and videos, which were then sent to Mrs. Quinn. Mrs. Quinn then decided on a winning class who received a prize for the most innovative idea.

Some of creative laps included: Walzing, Leap frogs, dabbing, animal walks, three legged walks, 'cha cha cha', balancing bean bags, trains, mexican wave and collapsing bridges.

Walking Wednesday

b2ap3_thumbnail_PicCollage-1.png

This morning we started our day off with a walking bus to school.Over 200 students gathered at Raheen church to jump on board the walking bus. This was a great way to get everyone up and moving before school while also reducing the traffic in the school car park.

Thanks to all the teachers to volenteered this morning!

I Like to Move it Move it!!!

b2ap3_thumbnail_jc.jpg

Yesterday was day two of our Active Schools Week.  Our Halla Mór was packed all day long thanks to one of our parent who gave up her time to hold aerobics and boxercise classes for all students from 1st to 6th class. Jean runs 'Body Roc Bootcamp' locally in Limerick and really gave all the children and teachers a great workout. It was great to see Jean adapte and change the stlye of the classes depending on the age groups, still instilling such positivity and fun at all times.

Thanks so much Jean, from all in St. Nessan's!

We're Going to the Zoo!!!

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_6881.JPG
b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_6884.JPG

We have kicked March off with a trip to Dublin Zoo for all the school! All the classes are taking part in the 206km walk to Dublin Zoo from our school! The students take part in laps of the field before school in the morning and also with their class teacher during the day. 3 laps of the school pitch, including the slope is 1km. When the different classes have completed a distance they leave a note on the notice board and a member of the Active Flag Committee will move our little mascots along the route. Some classes have been estimating how long it will take us. Most are hoping to reach Dublin Zoo by the end of the Easter Holidays.
